Samsung Galaxy Nexus to be Banned in US: Apple

Apple is seeking a ban in the sales of Samsung galaxy Nexus in US and has requested for the same claiming that Apple’s four patents are being violated by Google’s profoundly flaunted Ice-cream Sandwich version Android Operating system.

According to a technology researcher, Apple brought an action for the preliminary sanction against the device with the district court of the US of the Northern District California. A public version of the filing was made available on Friday and the motion was filed along with that with new centralized proceedings.

The action is based on four types of patents: a ‘data tapping’ patent, a patent involving Siri and unified research, a patent for the feature of “slide to unlock’ and fourth patent was that of the word completion for the touch screen entry of the text.

The researcher reports that the word completion patent may cover the working involved in Google’s mobile search application while the unified search patent could pose a serious threat to Google’s core search business. The unified search patent involves voice assistant Siri’s way of searching the Internet.

The data tapping feature is something which let you to tap a phone number from a text message or an e-mail or any other data. This can put Google into trouble as the incident with the Market player HTC reminds of a similar incident. HTC which is an Android Tablet maker was in great quandary last year when the International Trade commission ruled that the company has violated Apple’s patent by using the feature of data tapping in their products and warned them to ban their products which use this feature. HTC quickly stepped back.

And, slide to unlock is currently the issue of a legal action undertaken by Apple against the Galaxy Nexus in Germany, where a decision is expected in March. The request of Apple to ban Galaxy Nexus in Germany was rejected earlier this month by a court there. Apple had also taken the motion against Samsung products for the issue that they bear similar designs like Apple products. But this time, Apple has focused on more complex and technical patents rather than those related to designs. Verizon FiOS promotional code can be availed to enjoy huge discounts on the latest gadgets (including that of the Apple company). All you need to do is search for it online.

Receiving RSS feeds is also a relatively easy task to accomplish with a wide number of RSS feed readers being available. In fact all that needs to be done is to set up a RSS reader and subscribe to the RSS feeds you are interested in.

Some of the more free web-based readers are Google Reader, My Yahoo, Bloglines and Newsgator. They all are extremely easy to sign up to and mostly look and operate much like email accounts like Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail.

The next step is to subscribe to feeds from gadget shops and blogs on gadgets and gizmos that are guaranteed to keep you ahead of your competitors with stock.

This can be done any number of ways depending on which feed reader and which internet browser you are using.

You can search on the readers themselves for relevant feeds. However this is likely to leave you with a large number of unusual gadgets and cool spy gadgets blogs to keep checking up on.

If the cool electronic gadgets website has a RSS subscription button on its news page designed for your chosen reader then you won’t have any problem subscribing. All you need to do is to click on the button and follow the steps.

You could also click on the RSS button and copy the URL from the page of code that opens (the URL will probably contain the code XML or feed). You should then paste it into the ‘add feed’ dialog box in your RSS reader.

Flock or Firefox browsers make adding RSS feeds extremely easy. All you need to do is to click on the RSS link at the top of the page beside the URL bar and another window will open, letting you set up a feed directly in your browser.

Make yourself into a more dominant force on the internet. Get a RSS reader and subscriptions and set up your own RSS feed and change your gadget shop into a sturdy, sticky site with more cool gadgets and hot gadget gifts than your competitors.

18. Voltage Required AC 120/230 V
19. OS Required Apple Mac OS X 10.4 , 10.5, 10.6
Microsoft Windows Vista/XP/ 7

Features

Elements External Hard drive 1.5 TB 3.5” is a 1.5 Kg drive which provides you lots of space for all your data files. It although requires an external power source that might make it bulky for certain people.
Elements External Hard Drive is a sturdy black drive. It is enclosed by a very hard metallic enclosure that makes it suitable for every day use at home and office. The black color is aesthetically pleasing to use.
The external drive fancies a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface that provides rather average transfer speeds. You will find a socket to plug your AC power charger and USB 2.0 on the same side.
One sad disadvantage in this external hard drive is that it only has one transfer interface. With several triple and quad interfaces hard drives surfacing the Elements External 1.5 TB will look very inferior. The rotation speed of the drive is only 5400 rpm instead of 7200 rpm. With 1.5 TB storage space this very low rotational speed will make reading from and writing to the hard disk very slow.
Unlike certain external hard drives Elements External comes preformatted, so that you can just plug-in and use with your PC to back up data immediately. This eliminates the necessity for a software CD. The drive is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. Well for use with Mac you will have to format it.
Western Digital has also incorporated Energy Conservation technology into the drive that reduces power consumption when not in use.

Cost

Elements External Hard drive 1.5 TB 3.5” is available for just $69 USD.

Review

Elements External 1.5 TB 3.5” is a rugged black external hard drive, with a compact and simple enclosure.
The preformatted drive enables plug and play feature, which is very welcoming. The energy conservation technology is credible.
As for the performance it is not on par at all with drives incorporating eSATA and FireWire ports for transfers. Transfer speeds are rather average and could have been provided eSATA interface.
On the whole it is seriously under priced for the huge 1.5TB space it provides and might as well be sufficient for everyday home and office use.

New Apple iPod Nano

The new iPod Nanos from apple are the latest addition to Apple’s ever growing family, unlike its predecessor this 6th generation iPod has had a complete face lift from its début look in 2005. I must say this new iPod Nano looks pretty sweet, it kinda makes me thinks it’s what an electronic stamp would look like with a very crisp touchscreen. Along with this new touch screen comes simplicity with just a 4 options interface to choose from, it couldn’t get much simpler than that now could it. Along with the great new looks and interface apple have added a brand new operating system on it to allow its full features to run trouble and problem free.

Going back to my “stamp” thought is the size of this great little device and I’m not 100% sure it’s the smallest mp3 player out there but i think it’s safe to say it’s certainly the smallest fully loaded and stylish looking mp3 player ever! With this tiny player only measuring 1.54? with a 240×240 LCD touch screen. Turn it over and you will find a very useful clip to fix anywhere safe and securely. The cases that protect the precious insides are still the signature anodized brightly coloured shells that we have become accustomed to. Gone are the times of control buttons, this new version has no physical buttons when it comes to changing tracks, play, stop and pause…the famous clickwheel has been retired! There are still the on/off/lock & volume up and down but we can forgive apple on that one as this really does make things so much easier when compared to the last Nano.

Now it make look great and have some new fancy operating system but the big make or break question is, what is the sound quality like? Well I think you can already guess as it is from apple and although they can be stubborn at times that be we won’t going into that right now they do know what their do when it comes to sound. So to answer that big question, the sound has noticeable improved compared to the old version.

To sum up the new iPod Nano it’s a great bit of tech that not only packs a fierce punch in the mp3 world but it’s also very stylish and dare I say it…fashionable, with its slim size and great sound quality without the old buttons this really is a great mp3 player for anyone that’s on the move and wants to pass the time away listing to their classics!

Letter from Mr. Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs today informed the Apple Board of Directors that he was resigning as Chief
Executive Officer effective at once and recommended to the board that Tim Cook,
Apple’s Chief Operating Office be named as has successor. According to an Apple
press release issued at the same time as Mr. Jobs letter, the Apple board not
only named Tim Cook as Apple CEO, but also named Steve Jobs as the new chairman
of the board of Apple.

In the letter, addressed not only to the Board of Directors but the “Apple Community”,
Mr Jobs stated:

I have always said if there ever came a daywhen I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know.Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO
of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the
Board, director and Apple employee.

No reason was given for Jobs stepping down. While there has been recurring rumors of
declining health since his transplant surgery in 2009, it is equally possible
that he has simply elected to leave the day to day operation to others. Not
only was Mr. Jobs a co-founder of Apple, but he also has led Apple from the shambles
the iconic co-founder found upon his return in 1997 to create perhaps the most dominant
tech company in the world today. Further, it seems clear that he will still be
playing an active role as Chairman.

Tim Cook has been with Apple for the last thirteen
years and stepped in to run day to day operations during Mr. Job’s prior leave
of absence when dealing with his illness. With his elevation to CEO, Mr. Cook
also will be joining the Apple board.

10 Ways Google has made Android even better

Quick Search box

One of the major changes with the new Android update is a new ‘Quick Search’ box that essentially exposes all elements of the phone to find the file or whatever you need, meaning you can look for a contact, application, bookmark or extend the search out to the web.

Applications developed for Android 1.6 can also take advantage of this framework too, meaning you can look for elements within them in the future too, which will be handy when your menu list gets as long as your arm.

Some of you may think this is a little like Apple’s new Spotlight feature on the iPhone – you’d be right, as it’s pretty much identical. But Google = search, so it makes a lot of sense to put it on Android too.

Faster camera and improved gallery

Google is also improving the way you interact with your media in the Donut upgrade, as it’s pretty basic at the moment.

The main difference is starting up the camera (which currently takes an age) will be 39 per cent faster, with processing up to a quarter faster, meaning you can move on to the next snap much quicker.

And when you inevitably take oodles more rubbish photos you’ll be able to delete multiple pictures with the new upgrade, which will make life a lot easier.

Easier to get to the camcorder

One of the problems the Android OS faces is the fact it has a very limited camera interface, and that’s been slightly addressed in the 1.6 upgrade.

The camera screen now allows you to toggle between the camera and the video recorder with a little touchscreen button, meaning you don’t have to mess around in the menu system when you want to capture something funny your cat’s doing in real time.

Speech to text

Android’s picked up a new function thanks to a speech engine called Pico, making it possible to talk to your phone and make it do things.

The new speech synthesis engine will even be able to recognise accents within different languages, making those from the more obscure regions with odd dialects as audible as anyone else.

If you’re using legacy devices such as the G1 and the Magic, you’ll need to download a new element to bring the voices to the phone, but we assume Google will make this obvious when the time comes.

TomTom Spares

TomTom spares are often sought after when repairs are needed on the GPS navigator. Since there are many reliable GPS suppliers. One of the most helpful resources for finding these spare parts is Ebay, which is an online auction site. Halfords is another resource for finding spare parts or TomTom spares in general. The key to finding the right parts is to know what accessories are wanted or needed. Sometimes, there are multiple versions of the GPS navigator which means that not all the same parts will work with the same gadget. Finding the resources that will save the client money and time is very important, when looking for navigation device spare part. Repairs are often needed when a mount has been lost or broken. There is no need to purchase an entire new system when a person can save money and just buy a spare (that may have been used) for their repairs. There are ways to sift through auction sites such as Ebay or there are other methods, such as purchasing the mount directly, which should be able to fit your device. There is no need to waste money on a system when only a small piece needs to be fixed.

Chargers Which May Have a Shortage

Chargers may sometimes develop a shortage; this is quite common with GPS systems. The shortage can cause the device not to work or cause more damage. Consumers can get their charger to work for much less money by going to an online auction or buying from a second-hand store. No matter which type of charger is needed, the consumer will save money.
